Black and Brown Interpreters Meetup - Magnolia Plantation

Black and Brown Interpreters Meetup - Magnolia Plantation In-Person

Join us for the "From Slavery to Freedom Tour" at Magnolia Plantation with Kayla Blanchard. Kayla is a dynamic public historian and certified interpretive guide who is currently based at the Gibbes Museum of Art and this fall, she will begin a master's program in History at the College of Charleston (congrats Kayla).

During our tour we will discuss the life of the enslaved on the Drayton Plantation where Carolina Gold Rice was cultivated. This tour honors and remembers the men, women, and children who designed, planted, and worked in the gardens, built and maintained the bridges, and labored in the house and the rice fields.

Line up:

_____

The Black and Brown Interpreters Network is a group of natural and cultural history interpreters and tour guides based in the South Carolina Lowcountry and beyond who are dedicated to service, education and professional development in the field of heritage interpretation.

We meet monthly at different heritage sites to learn from our fellow Black and Brown Interpreters and tour guides; network, share opportunities for continuing education and scholarships, explore local history and more.

Our meetups are open to the community of Black and Brown people who identify as cultural/historical and natural history interpreters, tour guides and tour company owners; and/or Black and Brown people who have completed or plan to complete the National Association for Interpretation's Certified Interpretive Guide training course.
