Film Screening - The First Rainbow Coalition

Film Screening - The First Rainbow Coalition In-Person

Join us on Wednesday, October 8th, 630PM, for a discussion and screening of "The First Rainbow Coalition."

This documentary chronicles the strategic alliance of three revolutionary organizations in 1968--the Black-led Chicago Chapter of the Black Panther party, the Puerto Rican-led Young Lords and the white-led Young Patriots--and how they organized across color lines to combat shared issues around poverty, police brutality and exploitation of working class people.

We will discuss the historical context of the time, examine lessons we can learn from and apply to our current struggles here in the Lowcountry.

This program is co-sponsored by the CofC Chapter of the Students for a Democratic Society, the Lowcountry Action Committee and the Charleston Community Service Organization
